And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.

Dogwood this spring on a now rare walk to work. Summer has peaked and is in it’s slow sweet descent. Though this is one of my favorite parts of the season, I miss the fresh cold blooms of spring. Yet,the sweet stickiness of August flowers provide their own beauty.
There was nowhere to go but everywhere, so just keep on rolling under the stars.

SHAVED ICE. No! Shaved snow. Either way, this stuff is delicious (or as they say in Japan, oy shi). I got plum and Karl got blueberry, both were superb. To top it off, the stand was in a beautiful little secluded garden in one of Tokyo’s most chic neighborhoods, Daikan Yama. Take me back to that good life.
Posting two days in a row.. WHO AM I?!? Here’s a little dude monkeying around on the top of a small mountain in Kyoto. It was only a 20 minute hike up, and the view was breathtaking. A full panorama of the city in the front, the misty mountains in the back and monkeys all around.
I’m back, baby! And I have new inspiration in the form of a refreshing jaunt to Asia. Japan, to be specific. I was gone for 10 days and boy, do I feel alive. Fresh blood is running in my veins! Above is a crop field in the Aryshiyama neighborhood of Kyoto. My sister and I were biking from temple to temple and keep coming across the most wonderful gardens and fields. We parked our bikes for a moment to admire and breathe in the fresh air.
I was halfway across America, at the dividing line between the East of my youth and the West of my future.

Danielle sipping, “the #1 orange juice” in Jemaa el-Fnaa square in Marrakech, Morocco. The kind man behind the stand let me go behind the counter with him to watch him squeeze the juice by hand for a few moments, before his boss came and shooed me away. It really was the best orange juice I’ve ever tasted.
